Adventures Unlimited

Adventures Unlimited is a free state-funded respite program in the state of Illinois that offers engaging programming and events to engage participants with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and provides respite to caregivers. The program is open to adults and children as young as four years old.  Adventures Unlimited provides recreational activities with an emphasis on fitness, art, media training, and food preparation Events are 2 hours long, focused on thoughtful Media, Art, and/or Physical Movement. All staff are properly trained, certified, and experienced. For a participant’s first three events there will be a 1:1 ratio of staff to the participant.   

To be eligible for Adventures Unlimited services individuals must meet the following 2 criteria:  

  • Individual must have a documented developmental disability   

  • Individual must not be enrolled in any other Medicaid waiver program   

 Examples of past adventures:  

  •  Bowling at the UIC campus bowling ally  

  •  Motorcycle rides at Big Marsh park  

  • Indoor and outdoor rock climbing
