Host Family

Host Family Program

Similar to foster care, the Envision Unlimited Host Family Program pairs eligible Envision Unlimited adult members* with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) with host families so members may live in the community in a private home and enjoy choice, independence, inclusion and community involvement.

Envision Unlimited provides host families with:

  • Ongoing training
  • A monthly stipend
  • An average of 20 hours of respite care per month, per member
  • Two weeks of paid vacation
  • 24-hour on-call support
  • Medication and medical management oversight

What host families can expect:

  • Members are enrolled in a day or work option during the week.
  • The preferences of both the member and host family are taken into consideration when pairing a member with a host family.
  • Envision Unlimited staff will visit several times per month to ensure a successful placement.

Requirements:

  • No more than two members, and a total of six people, may live in the home.
  • Each home must be licensed prior to a host family placement.
  • Families must have a vehicle to accommodate the needs of the member.

*We call our clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities “members”, because that is how they prefer to be known.
