Envision staff members celebrate at a recent program graduation.

Empowering Minds and Inspiring Lives

Envision Unlimited is proud to be a trusted resource for nearly 2 million Illinois residents navigating mental health challenges. May marked Mental Health Awareness Month, and we celebrated with a graduation ceremony for individuals who completed our Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) program. This comprehensive, empowering initiative is designed to train and guide individuals with lived experience of mental health and/or substance use recovery towards professional certification and successful careers as peer supports.

Our program equips participants with the skills, knowledge and practical experience necessary to work as a recovery support specialist, providing peer-to-peer services in a variety of settings such as community mental health centers, hospitals and treatment facilities. The goal is to strengthen local mental health resources for people experiencing serious mental illness, as Illinois has a particularly severe behavioral health workforce shortage.

We continued the Mental Health Awareness Month celebration with an inspirational open house at our Ravenswood Community Mental Health Center, which featured karaoke, storytelling, vibrant artwork and more. At our Springfield Community Mental Health Center, neighbors also gathered for an afternoon of painting, expressing emotions and building coping skills.

While these activities supported increased mental health awareness, we know that practicing mental health wellness is a lifelong investment. We’re committed to meeting people where they are throughout their journey.
