Illumination Unlimited

Illuminating Stories, Choice, Independence and Inclusion

Dear Friends,

At Envision Unlimited, there has always been a light shining from within to guide the work we do on behalf of people with disabilities. We take our role very seriously to illuminate the stories of our inspiring members, compassionate staff and generous donors and volunteers.

Every day, we get to be part of vital work to help more than 3,500 members and their families grow towards independence, experience greater community inclusion and live their best lives possible. With thousands of people on waiting lists for services like those we offer, it's critical that even more individuals learn about the impact of Envision Unlimited and the available resources that we deliver, with empathy and dignity right where you are.

We are shining a bright light on Marion, an Envision Unlimited peer mentor who has overcome adversity and is now paying it forward for others with disabilities, as well as one of our very own direct support professionals (DSP), who was recently honored by a statewide disability advocacy organization.

Each year we bring together hundreds of long-time supporters and new friends at our annual gala and this year’s theme was Illumination Unlimited. Don’t miss all the insights, photos and video from the event.

Our members are always helping others. Recently they put a spotlight on people in need. Check out the latest project of our Kindness Team and their efforts to volunteer at a local food bank.

Another bright spot – pieces of our members' artwork are currently brightening homes across Chicago, thanks to Brad Pierce of HAVEN Home Staging and Redesign.

And we know that advocating for people with disabilities goes beyond a spotlight awareness day or month. Check out our tips for teaching autism acceptance year round.

There are so many opportunities to shine a light on underrepresented people with disabilities and issues that impact their choice, independence and inclusion. We hope the inspiring stories we share create a spark within you to do what you can to help change lives.

Sincerely,

Mark McHugh
