The College of Applied Health Sciences at UIC recently award Envision Unlimited their 2016 – 2017 Community Parter Award in recognition of exceptional service to the College, its faculty, and students! Envision is grateful to the Department of Disability and Human Development (DHD) for their partnership in this endeavor.
Envision client Ana Zalka was present at the meeting where this prestigious award was presented. As part of this collaboration, she has also worked on two joint projects with UIC faculty members Dr. Lieke VanHeuman and Dr. Tamar Heller.
In writing her recommendation, Dr. Heller had this to say about Envision Unlimited:
“Envision Unlimited has been an invaluable community partner to DHD and to the college. For the past 30 years it has served as a community partner for interventions, practicum sites, dissertation site, advisory board member on projects, and funders of research fellows. In particular its Division Director Donna Ennis has been integrally involved in nearly all these initiatives.
Envision has been a lead partner in establishing several of our interventions as evidence-based ones, such as the “Future is Now,”, “Person Centered Planning for Later Life,” and “HealthMatters.” Recently Envision has been a collaborative partner with the Chicagoland Entrepreneurship Education for People with Disabilities (CEED). In addition to DHD students, many Occupational Therapy students have had practicums at Envision.”
We are grateful for this thoughtful and inspiring recommendation, and we are exceptionally proud of the time that clients and UIC faculty have dedicated. Envision looks forward at what’s to come with our ongoing partnership with UIC!
